This morning, A Chowchilla School Resource Officer was notified of a student who made threats against the middle school and students that attend the middle school to occur at an unspecified date in the future.

After investigating the information the student was arrested, transported and booked into Madera County Juvenile Hall for making threats.

The Chowchilla Police Department is dedicated to keeping our community and schools safe. You are urged to speak with your children about the consequences of their social media posts as well as threatening comments to others. Please encourage them to tell someone about any suspicious posts they may see or comments they may hear.

The Chowchilla Police Department takes all threats we receive very seriously and they will be investigated thoroughly. Officers will use every resource available to track down the source of the threat, and will pursue charges against anyone that is threatening schools or the community.
