DRIVE-BY SHOOTING IN PLANADA TODAY POLICE LOOKING FOR SECOND SUSPECT

The Merced County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a drive-by shooting in Planada. Deputy LaMattina and Sergeant Blake received a report of a drive-by shooting in the area of Latham Drive and Carson Street in Planada.

When deputies arrived just a few moments later, they located the suspected involved vehicle driving away from the scene occupied by two male subjects. Sergeant Blake chased the vehicle to an address on Dana Street and one subject took off running. Sergeant Blake chased the male subject through a field and was able to arrest him.

The subject was a 16-year-old Hispanic male juvenile who was in possession of a stolen loaded hand gun. The second subject has been identified as Christian Palomares who was identified as being involved in the shooting. He also took off running from the vehicle and the Detectives Bureau is currently looking for him.
