On January 24th, 2020, at approximately 8:03 a.m., the Los Banos area California Highway Patrol responded to the area of SR-152 and Flanagan Road for a collision involving two tractor-trailers.

Upon officer’s arrival, officers located a 2019 Freightliner driven by 61-year-old Ivan Phillips out of Oakland California and a 2003 Kenworth Central Valley Concrete truck driven by 48-year-old John Delgado from Merced.

Upon further investigation, officers determined that Delgado was driving southbound on Flanagan Road north of E/B SR-152
and stopped at the marked stop sign.

Phillips was driving the 2019 Freightliner eastbound on SR- 152 in the #2 lane west of Flanagan Road at approximately 50 mph.

Mr. Delgado crossed over the eastbound lanes of SR- 152 directly in front of Phillips.

Phillips was unable to avoid hitting Delgado, colliding with the right side of the CVC truck, he was extracted by fire department personnel and taken to Memorial North Hospital in Modesto.

Delgado sustained minor injuries, The collision remains under investigation according to the California Highway Patrol.
