Merced Police officers arrest Gang member, this is why

On January 25, 2020, the Merced Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit
(GVSU) officers developed information that gang member 37-year-old Carlos Almeida had a gun.

Almeida is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing any firearms. Officers authored
a search warrant and served the search warrant at Almeida’s residence located in the
1800 block of West North Bear Creek Drive in Merced.

During the search, officers located a
loaded revolver inside his vehicle. Almeida was arrested and booked at the Merced
County jail on weapon charges and gang enhancements.

Merced Police are asking anyone with any information regarding this crime to contact
Gang Violence Suppression Unit (GVSU) Sgt. Rodriguez at (209)385-4710 or
GVSU at cityofmerced.org or the Merced Police Department Tipster Line at (209) 385-
4725.
