Merced Police officers are investigating after a car crashed into the Pacific Express Inn hotel located at 951 Motel Drive.

Officers responded at around 3:28 Wednesday morning for reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a hotel at the corner of Motel Drive and Pine Street.

When officers arrived, they located a vehicle unoccupied inside one of the rooms, luckily it was unoccupied.

A building inspector and PG&E were called to the scene.

Witnesses say they saw two people leave the scene of the crash before officers arrived, it appears they were not located by officers who searched the area.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, no further information is available.
