We received a video showing a female Golden Valley Basketball player sitting on the floor of a school issued vehicle, the vehicle was allegedly driven by a Golden Valley High school basketball coach.
The students were on their way to Fresno on Tuesday, June 18th, 2019 at approximately 6:00 p.m on Highway 99 with 11 passengers on a 10 passenger vehicle, that’s when one of the girls recorded the video.
According to one of the girls parent, some girls in the vehicle were not using seatbelts because they do not function properly.
The parent sent several emails and placed several calls to the school and The California Highway Patrol including the Merced Police Department who took a complaint report.
The parent also said because of their quick action to report it, one of the girls was picked up in Fresno, only 10 passengers rode back home in the school vehicle.
The parent recieved a response back from the school the following is part of the message, Safety is our number one concern, they then asked the parent to forward them the videos.
Merced Gateway News sent an Email to MUHSD, till today, we have not received a response regarding this incident.
Once we receieve a response we will update this story.
The following is just some information that can be found at the MUHSD website regarding coaches.
