Atwater Police responded to a fully engulfed vehicle fire in the parking lot of Save Mart this morning.

Cal-Fire responded and was able to extinguish the fire however the vehicle, an older model VW Beetle, sustained major damage.

No one was injured as a result. One vehicle parked next to the VW sustained minor to moderate heat/smoke damage.

The cause of the fire appeared to be mechanical.
