20-year-old woman killed in head-on crash with big rig driver from Atwater

According to the Modesto CHP, a 20-year-old Southern California woman was killed on Thursday, January 9th, 2020 in a head-on collision near Westley California at approximately 12:10 p.m.

CHP said, the woman was driving a 2013 Hyundai north on Highway 33, just north of Stanislaus Road behind a 2018 Volvo big rig driven by 51-year-old Anatoliy Fedinchyk from Hagerstown in Maryland.

The woman crossed the broken yellow center line and entered the southbound lane where she collided head-on with a 2016 Freightliner driven by 36-year-old Tony Austin from Atwater, according to the press release.

According to the report, the big rig the woman was passing was also hit during the collision.

The 20-year-old woman from Moreno Valley died at the scene. Both of the big rig drivers were not injured, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
