Woman accused of DUI and driving 125+ MPH arrested after multi-vehicle crash in Merced

A woman accused of driving under the influence was arrested after a multi-vehicle crash in Merced.

Merced Police officers responded to the crash in North Merced Thursday night at around 7:06, Merced Police said.

When officers arrived they located several vehicles with damage one of the involved vehicles was a 2022 Maserati.

During the investigation it was determined that 47-year-old Lori Gallo was driving South on G Street approaching Cardella Road at more than 125 miles per hour. Police say Lori Gallo attempted to pass a Lexus that was also traveling south on G Street, but she got too close, and side-swiped the Lexus.

Gallo then hit a Honda, that was stopped at the intersection of G Street & Cardella Road. The impact caused the Maserati and the Lexus to go off the road, into a ditch several hundred feet away, according to a report from the Merced Police department.

Police say a 4th vehicle was damaged after hitting a tire and wheel that were torn off the Maserati, and left behind in the roadway. During this collision, the Lexus and the Honda drivers were injured, and transported to area hospitals for treatment.

Officers were able to determine that Gallo was driving  under the influence of alcohol, and she had a blood alcohol content over twice the legal limit.  She was arrested for a Felony DUI collision causing injury and booked into Merced County Jail.

Merced Police are asking anyone with any information regarding this collision to contact Traffic Officer Calcagno at (209) 388-7718 or by email at calcagnom,@cityofmerced.org.
