Two women, two men from Merced, arrested for stealing at a Walmart

The Sonora Police Department arrested four from the City of Merced on grand theft charges and conspiracy to commit grand theft.

The following are the four suspect’s arrested, 35-year-old Crystal Cervantes, 38-year-old Charles Chavira Jr., 52-year-old Dawn Dubois, and 51-year-old Robert Hayani, Crystal Cervantes was booked on drug and weapon charges as well.

Officers responded to a call of theft occurring at Walmart at around 7:15 p.m. on Monday evening.

The store manager was able to provide a detailed description of the vehicle as it was fleeing the scene.

The suspect’s vehicle hit the highway and left town traveling westbound, a sheriff deputy who was alert and listening to the scanner, intercepted the suspect’s vehicle.

The Deputy made an enforcement stop on the vehicle, he detained the four occupants as it passed through Jamestown.

Sonora Police officers responded to the Jamestown location to assume the investigation.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that Dubois and Hayani waited in the getaway van while Cervantes and Chavira collected items inside the store and then pushed the cart out through an emergency exit.

The items ranged from camping gear to pet items, to costumes and toys. The value of the stolen items was placed at over a thousand dollars.

In addition to the theft-related charges, Cervantes was found in possession of brass knuckles and methamphetamine.

Although one bag of methamphetamine was discovered upon arrest, Cervantes had an additional bag of methamphetamine which was concealed in her undergarments and later discovered during the booking process.

All suspect’s were booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for their charges.

    if the people in this country weren’t being squeezed for every damn nickel & dime
    in thier pockets they probably wouldn’t
    steal so much maybe corp’s like walmart
    deserve what it gets i.e. prices high
    wages low & corporate greed is killing
    our country just look around!

    The real problem is meth, and other types of drugs. Drugs impair judgement, and self sustainability. A persons self worth and morality take a backseat to the need to escape reality by self medicating just to exist in a day to day medicated haze. Its a seem8ngly a nonending circle of destruction.
