On May 26th, 2019, Merced Police received a shots fired call at approximately 10:52 p.m in the area of R Street and West 2nd Street.

The dispatcher advised responding officers that there was three victims shot.

Upon arrival officers located three victims with gunshot wounds.

Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation, the Merced Police Crime scene Unit also responded to investigate the shooting.

At this time Officers do not believe the shooting was Gang related. All three victims were rushed to the hospital.

A man who lives at the home told Merced Gateway News, “My son, nephew, and one of their friends who came over after getting off work got shot at by a random person that was walking in the area, all three were outside the home when the shooter shot them after an argument happened”

The friend is in critical condition, the other two men are expected to recover.

No suspect information was immediately available from Merced Police.
