UPDATE:

Police have said there was no body in bear creek , the dive team was looking for an item related to an ongoing investigation.

The Merced Sheriffs Department is currently searching the Bear creek canal between R Street and Highway 59 for a possible body.

The road remains closed, use alternate routes.
