On December 22nd 2018 at 1231 AM officers of the Merced Police Department responded to the 1200 Block of Loughborough for a report of shots being fired in the area. Officers were further updated that there had been some type of disturbance at the location and that there was one person on the ground.

When officers arrived they discovered a male on the ground in his 30s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers and emergency medical personnel attempted life saving measures but were unsuccessful and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Initial information provided to officers is that the shooting was the result of some kind of argument or disagreement.

There is no more information at this time. The identity of the victim is not being released pending notification of the next of kin.
