Merced woman killed, three juveniles transported to hospital with injuries in Merced County crash Monday morning

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left a woman dead and three juveniles in a hospital Monday morning.

Officers responded to the intersection of Fox Road and Bellevue Road for reports of a crash involving a semi-truck and a vehicle at around 7:06, according to CHP.

Authorities say a 35-year-old woman from Merced was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox Westbound on Bellevue approaching the intersection of Fox Road when she made a left turn Southbound on Fox Road failing to stop at the posted stop sign and was hit by a 2017 Peterbilt semi-truck directly on the driver’s side door.

Officials say the woman died at the scene and two juveniles were transported by air ambulance and one by ground ambulance to Valley Children’s Medical Center in Madera with moderate to extensive injuries, California Highway Patrol public information officer Zuniga told Merced Golden Wire News.

The driver of the semi-truck is a 55-year-old man from Winton and was not injured in the crash.

Dui does not appear to be a factor at this time, the crash remains under investigation.

CHP would like to remind drivers to drive distracted-free and come to a complete stop at posted stop signs.
