Merced woman flown to hospital after being ejected from vehicle in Merced County crash

A woman was flown to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries Friday afternoon following a rollover crash in Merced County.

Just after 1:00, California Highway Patrol officers responded to a report of a solo vehicle collision with injuries on Northbound State Route Highway 59 South of Snelling Road, according to CHP public information officer Zuniga.

When officers arrived, they located the driver, a 47-year-old woman from Merced who was ejected from a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban.

Authorities said it appears the woman drove off to the right shoulder and attempted to overcorrect the steering wheel to the left causing it to roll over, speed is unknown at this time.

The passenger, her juvenile son was wearing his seatbelt and only sustained minor scratches, he was transported to a hospital for precautionary reasons.

DUI is not suspected. CHP wants to remind everyone that wearing your seatbelt saves lives!
