MERCED POLICE OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE, SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON GLEN AVENUE

The Merced Police Department responded to East South Bear Creek Drive and Glen Avenue for an injury traffic collision. When officers arrived they located a 1998 Chevy pickup that had hit a tree. The driver and right front passenger were out of the vehicle lying on the ground. The passenger in the rear was pinned in and had to be extricated by Merced City Fire.

The driver Maule, Robert (34, Merced) was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. The two passengers were taken to area trauma centers.

Maule was driving north on Glen Avenue at a high rate of speed passing Robinson Drive. Maule lost control of the Chevy pickup, spun out and collided with a tree.

After receiving medical clearance Maule was booked into Merced County Jail for driving under the influence causing bodily injury.

An update on the passenger’s status is not available at this time.
