Atwater Police arrested 24-year-old Craig Alderman this morning after a passer-by reported a male sitting in a vehicle that appeared to be passed out. Officer Radke and Reserve Officer Centeno contacted Alderman in the area of Shaffer Rd. and Osborn Terrace seated in his vehicle and who displayed a depressed level of consciousness.

Officers were eventually able to awaken him and asked him to exit the vehicle. Upon exiting the car two hypodermic syringes dropped out of his lap. Alderman admitted to having just injected himself with heroin a short time before officers arrived.

A search of his vehicle revealed more drug paraphernalia. Alderman was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later issued a citation and released on his written promise to appear.
