Merced police officer arrests man in possession of stolen vehicle and several stolen items.

On Tuesday at around 9:10 P.M. Officer Richter of the Merced police department was in the 2700 block of Story Avenue when he identified a stolen 07 Dodge Charger in front of a residence.

24-year-old Roger Lee Jantz was sitting in the driver’s seat in possession of the keys. Jantz was taken into custody and had hidden in his waistband a stolen 9mm handgun.

During a search of the vehicle several other stolen items reported from neighboring agencies were located. Jantz who is on CDC Parole is prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was booked into the Merced County jail.
