Big rig crashes into several trees in Atwater

A big rig carrying a load of Arrowhead Sparkling water crashed into several trees before coming to a complete stop in Atwater.

California Highway Patrol officers responded at around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday to the area of Northbound Highway 99 just south of the Atwater Boulevard exit for reports of a collision.

CHP officers located the big rig upon arrival, the big rig lost control ran off the roadway hitting the guard rail, and multiple trees before coming to a stop.

The big rig driver reported that a black sedan passed him on the shoulder and clipped him and lost control, a second big rig driver also reported he was hit by the same vehicle, the driver of the sedan left the scene according to CHP officer Zuniga.

Big rig involved in the collision was carrying Arrowhead Sparkling water.

Hazmat crews responded to the scene for a diesel and oil spill from the big rig, no injuries were reported.
