At approximately 1:16 p.m. today, the Merced Police Department responded to the area of West Olive Avenue and Highway 59 for a report of a Big rig vs a bicyclist.

Upon officers arrival, officers located a Hispanic male adult with serious injuries. Riggs Ambulance responded and transported the male adult to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.

It does not appear the construction in the area had anything to do with this incident and the driver is cooperating with the investigation, Merced Police Sergeant Foster said.

The scene is under investigation, and no further information was available.
