Atwater Police is investigating a report of a shooting that left one dead on Tuesday night.

Shortly after 10:00 p.m., Atwater police officers responded to the area of Belmont Street and Secretariat Drive for reports of a gunshot victim.

Upon arrival, officers located a female victim, police and medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, unfortunately, she was declared dead at the scene.

Investigators are currently at the scene, and it remains under investigation.

The victim’s identity was not released pending notification of next of kin.
