A Merced woman was killed after her vehicle collided with a semi-truck in Madera County on Thursday afternoon according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened in the area of Highway 152 and Road 13 at 4:44 pm.

During the investigation, officers determined the 30-year-old female was driving a 2003 Infiniti Southbound on road 13 approaching a stop sign on State Route 152.

Authorities said, the woman failed to stop and drove through the posted stop sign and was struck by a 2017 Freightliner semi-truck traveling Westbound on State Route 152.

CHP says the woman was pinned in the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries, her identity remains unknown.

The driver of the semi-truck was identified as 61-year-old Luis R. Martinez from Merced, he was not injured according to CHP.

CHP says Alcohol and/or drugs may have played a factor in the collision.
