Merced Fire displaces several children and three adults, fire officials say

Several children and adults were displaced from their homes after a fire in Merced early Friday morning according to fire officials.

The Merced Fire Department received reports of a structure fire at 1625 East 27th Street at around 5:00 a.m.

Fire officials say when they arrived at the scene heavy smoke was coming out from inside the residence, Merced fire battalion Franklin told Merced GW News.

A total of three fire engines, one ladder truck, and one battalion chief, responded to the structure fire. One person was treated for smoke inhalation, no other injuries were reported.

Eight children and three adults were displaced from the home, Red Cross assisted the family.

The fire remains under investigation.
