Wanted Felon ran from Merced Police officers, K9 Finds him

In the late evening hours of August 4, 2019, the Merced Police Department requested the assistance of Deputy T. Thomas Miller and his K-9 partner Edo with tracking a subject who had fled while serving a warrant.

The subject identified as 38-year-old Simon Velasco took off running from the area of Parsons Avenue and Country Drive.

K-9 Edo was put on the scent and tracked Velasco a short distance where he was found and taken into custody by the Merced Police Department.

Velasco was currently wanted on charges of Felon in possession of a firearm, and assault with a firearm.
