Planada, CA- On February 17th, 2020, at approximately 7:41 p.m., the Merced area California Highway Patrol officers responded to a vehicle collision in the area of East Childs Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located a 1998 Honda Civic with a solo occupant who had crashed into a concrete Silo in the area.

Upon further investigation, 47-year-old Miguel Garcia from Planada was traveling Northbound on Santa Fe Avenue at an unknown rate of speed and failed to stop at a posted stop sign according to CHP Officer Zuniga.

At this time, alcohol or drugs on Garcia are unknown, he was flown to Doctors Medical in Modesto with major injuries, Zuniga said.
