Vehicle catches fire after a crash in Merced County

The Merced area California Highway Patrol is investigating a collision after a vehicle caught on fire.

CHP responded to the collision on State Route 59 near Sandy Mush Road at around 6:35 p.m. today.

According to the CHP CAD page, two vehicles were involved, one of the vehicles caught on fire and completely burned.

At this time it’s unknown how many individuals are being transported to a hospital but it does appear to be major injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, stay tuned for more information from the California Highway Patrol when it becomes available.
