Merced police department officers responded to the AM/PM on West Highway 140 for a victim who had been hit in the head with a metal pipe at around 7:45 Monday night.

Officer Martinez located a 53-year-old victim suffering from a head wound. Video surveillance from the business captured the incident which depicted a white male adult wearing a baseball-style cap assaulting the victim.

The suspect fled prior to police arriving. The victim was transported to an area hospital for head trauma.
