Man taken to hospital after reported stabbing on Merced Highway 99 on-ramp, CHP says

A man was hospitalized in Merced after a report of a stabbing that took place on a freeway on-ramp, the California Highway Patrol said.

It happened on Sunday at around 12:33 p.m, at the homeless encampment on the Southbound 99 on-ramp on G Street, according to public information officer Zuniga from the Merced area California Highway Patrol Office.

Arriving officers located Agustine Maciel, a man in his 50’s to 60’s with a laceration to the upper left arm.

The victim was able to describe the suspect as a heavy-set white male in his 40’s to 50’s during the assault. Officers searched the area and were not able to locate the suspect.

The victim was transported to Mercy Medical Center for his injury that required stitches, CHP said.
