Police arrest gang member after short chase, this is what police say

Merced police have arrested a gang member after a short chase in Merced.

Police say they arrested 23-year-old Daniel Deltoro for being a felon in possession of a firearm, driving while intoxicated, hit and run vehicle collision, and gang enhancements.

On Friday morning at around 2:30 AM, Officer Laguna saw a vehicle driving erratically on West Main Street.

The driver, Deltoro, tried to evade officers and ended up crashing his vehicle near The Bar B-Q Pit in the 1700 block of “G” Street.

Officers were able to arrest Deltoro after a short foot pursuit.

Officers searched the vehicle and located a loaded 12-gauge shotgun on the driver seat. Police say Deltoro, was driving while being under the influence of alcohol.

Authorities say 32-year-old Victoria Villegas was an occupant of the vehicle and was also arrested for possession of a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle.
