Merced police say they arrested a 20-year-old man for having a loaded weapon inside the vehicle.

Officer Barroso made a traffic enforcement stop for expired registration on a vehicle at Glen Avenue & Yosemite Parkway at around 1:14 Saturday morning.

The driver 20-year-old Xavier Hernandez consented to a search of his vehicle, a loaded 9mm handgun was located under the driver’s seat.

Authorities say Hernandez admitted ownership of the firearm and was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.
