The Merced Sheriff Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on Friday afternoon.

Authorities say they received a 911 call from the Chevron located in the area of Highway 33 and Highway 152 in Dos Palos regarding an altercation between two male subjects in the parking lot.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim of the altercation, the victim was identified as 53-year-old Juan Guzman and was stabbed multiple times, unfortunately, he died at the scene due to his injuries after life-saving measures by RIGGS ambulance.

Authorities say the suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived.
