Police arrest 19-year-old man wanted for robbery at Merced gas station

Merced Police has arrested a man responsible for the robbery at a Merced gas station.

Officers received a 911 call Saturday at around 1:29 a.m. for an armed robbery at the AM PM has station on West Highway 140.

When officers arrived, they contacted the victim who said that a black male entered the business and grabbed several items from the store. When the suspect went to the counter, he brandished a firearm and demanded money before fleeing.

On October 31st, 2020 at 10:10 A.M Officer Saldivar was patrol and observed Taris Tyrell Beard. Officer Saldivar was aware of the armed robbery and recognized Beard from the surveillance video.

Beard was detained by officers for further investigation. After an investigation by Officers Saldivar and Valadez, evidence was located connected to the robbery.

In addition, Beard admitted to officers he was responsible for the armed robbery. Taris Beard was arrested and booked on charges of armed robbery.
