Merced Police arrest 52-year-old man with improvised explosive devices and other charges

Merced Police say they have arrested a 52-year-old male for being in possession of improvised explosive devices, along with several other felony charges, in connection with an ongoing investigation.

Officers responded to a home in the 1000 block of West 21st Street at around 6:00 Tuesday evening and located improvised explosive devices on the property as well as other evidence of illegal activity.

Authorities say, the Bomb Squad and the Crime Scene Response Team will be in the area for several hours while they continue to work on the investigation.

The residence is secure and there is no active threat to residents in the area.
