A man was killed early Wednesday morning after being shot in the face in Atwater.

Officers responded to the 2400 block of Atwater Boulevard at around 3:50 a.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived to the area, they found a Hispanic man lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound.

Emergency personnel performed life-saving measured, unfortunately, the man died.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending an investigation and notification of next of kin.
