On Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at approximately 4:21 pm.
Officers of the Chowchilla Police Department responded to the 200 block of Alameda Avenue for reports of gunfire and a subject shot inside of a vehicle.
Upon arriving on scene, officers located a vehicle which had wrecked into a residential fence.
The solo occupant driver inside of the vehicle was found to have suffered from several gunshot wounds.
Chowchilla Officers began rendering life-saving procedures while waiting for the arrival of paramedics.
Once the paramedics arrived at the scene, the driver was immediately transported to a hospital for the life-threatening injuries.
Immediately, an investigation was placed by the Chowchilla Police Department.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle had been followed and shot several times by an occupant of another vehicle.
Several shell casings were discovered in the roadway where the incident occurred. Another vehicle, unrelated to the incident was also struck by a bullet.
No occupants were inside of that vehicle. It is believed that this shooting was gang-related and the investigation is ongoing.
