On 9/8/2018 at approximately 9:57 p.m., Los Banos Police Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Santa Barbara Street for a shooting involving at least two shooters.

The investigation is in the early stages and Detectives are still piecing information together. At this point Detectives believe two men drove to a home in the 800 block of Santa Barbara Street and fired shots from a vehicle at people standing outside the home.

One of the men returned gunfire, shooting and killing the driver of the vehicle as he fled the scene. The vehicle came to rest after crashing into a residential fence.

The name of the man killed will be released by the Merced County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office at a later time.

Christian Roman, 20-year-old of Los Banos has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and conspiracy for his role in the drive-by shooting. No others have been charged in connection with the shooting.
