Merced Police is investigating an assault that occurred in an alleyway near downtown.

Officers responded to the 200 block of West 20th Street for reports of an assault earlier today.

Detectives are currently looking to identify the person in the photo in regards to this case. The identification or condition of the victim remains unknown. Stay tuned for any updated information.
