Merced Sheriff Deputies secured the scene where a dead body was found in a canal Wednesday morning.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., Merced County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of State Route Highway 59 and Reilly Road after receiving a report of a body in a canal.

At this time authorities have not confirmed if it’s a homicide but several investigators are at the scene.
