On August 21, 2018, at approximately 05:40 a.m., a 2009 Peterbulit rig hauling live turkeys was traveling in the 3 lane of SR-99 northbound, south of Mission Ave . According to the driver (Jose Cruz Pozos, 50, out of Waterford) and witnesses, a blue sedan type vehicle side swiped the big rig causing it to loose control.

The unknown sedan left the scene after the collision. Pozos attempted to maintain control but the big rig drifted onto the right shoulder of SR 99 where it overturned.

Pozos was transported to Mercy Hospital for minor injuries. The 3 lane is northbound SR 99 will be shut down for vehicle extraction until approximately 1:00 pm
