The California Highway Patrol is investigating a collision involving an Atwater Police Vehicle.
On January 16th, 2020, at approximately 10:27 p.m. Merced CHP units responded to the 1400 block of Winton Way and Mitchell street for a collision involving a white-colored Toyota Prius vs an Atwater Police vehicle.
The white Prius after colliding with the police cruiser traveled over the curb nearly hitting the Atwater HeartStrings Gift shop.
At this time no injuries are being reported. Merced Gateway News was at the scene when one person was detained and placed in the back seat of a highway patrol vehicle.
