The Atwater Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened last night in the 1500 block of Elm Avenue. Reports of shots fired were received at around 8:45PM, police found a 32-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim, whose name is being withheld, was transported via air ambulance to Memorial Hospital in Modesto for emergency treatment. Atwater detectives went to the hospital to interview the victim, who is expected to survive his gunshot wounds.

Officers processed the crime scene and were able to obtain evidence of the crime. The suspect is described only as a Hispanic adult male wearing a hooded sweatshirt at this time. The Atwater Police Department is continuing to investigate this case.
