On 9-15-18 at approximately 11:05a.m, a Stockton CHP officer encountered a female pedestrian on SR-99 near Fremont Street. The female was handcuffed and detained in the rear of a patrol vehicle. The female escaped from the rear seat, entered the driver seat and fled in the patrol car. Other officers on scene initiated a vehicle pursuit of the stolen patrol car. The pursuit traveled several miles before going south on I-5. The female exited I-5 at Lathrop Road and drove west a short distance before making a u-turn and stopping. The female complied with orders at this location and was taken into custody without further incident. Delia Castro, 08-26-97, was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for stolen vehicle, evading and resisting arrest. This incident marks the fifth time an emergency vehicle has been stolen in the Sacramento and Stockton areas.
