12-year-old hit by vehicle, he was med-flighted with major injuries CHP says

The California Highway Patrol responded to the area of North Winton Way and Almond Avenue for a report of a vehicle vs pedestrian on Monday, November 11th, 2019, at around 6:30 p.m.

A 12-year-old male juvenile was on the east side of Winton Way when he attempted to cross westbound, according to officer Zuniga, the 12-year-old was following a cousin who had already crossed the intersection.

20-year-old Fernando Cazaro from Winton was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu southbound on Winton Way at approximately 35 mph with a green light when the juvenile entered the intersection and was hit.

The driver stopped at the scene and was cooperative during the investigation.

The juvenile was transported to Doctors Medical Hospital with head lacerations and leg injuries, he then got med-flighted to Children’s Hospital in Madera.
