A woman was arrested after leading officers on a short chase on Thursday night.

The woman failed to yield during a traffic stop and a pursuit ensued at around 8:19 p.m. in the area of Merced Avenue near Golden Valley High School.

The driver continued on Merced Avenue when she eventually lost control and crashed into a small tree in the front yard of a home at the corner of Merced Avenue and Shirley Street.

The driver was identified as 31-year-old Elisa Marie Garay from Merced, she was booked into the Merced Country Jail on the following charges, Violation of probation unlicensed driver, evading peace officer, and basic speed law.
