On December 6, 2020, deputies from the Merced County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 7400 Block of Jones Road in Winton for a report of a male subject who had been stabbed.

When deputies arrived on-scene they found a 55-year-old man who was suffering from a stab wound. The suspect was identified as 29-year-old Jose Segovia Andrade who was the son of the victim. Investigators learned that Andrade had stabbed his father after an argument and then fled the scene.

On December 8, 2020, Detectives with the Merced County Sheriff’s Office were conducting surveillance and through investigation learned that Andrade was staying at the Applegate Inn in Atwater.

Detectives watched Andrade walk out of a hotel room and get into a vehicle. A short time later, detectives conducted a vehicle stop and took Andrade into custody. Andrade has been booked into the Merced County Jail on charges of Attempted Murder.
