On June 8th, 2019, at approximately 12:35 p.m. the California Highway Patrol responded to the area of state route 140 and North Quinley Avenue for a traffic collision.

Officers arrived on scene and observed a 2008 Toyota RAV4 driven by 20-year-old Judith Sandoval out of La Selva Beach.

Upon further investigation, public information officer Zuniga said Judith had collided into a 2005 Astro van driven by 38-year-old Maria Leon with a passenger 53-year-old Beatriz Leon.

Sandoval was traveling Westbound on State Route 140 when for unknown reasons veered into the path of Beatriz traveling eastbound and collided.

Sandoval and Beatriz both were med-flighted to a Modesto Hospital, Maria was taken by ground ambulance a Merced Hospital.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor, the collision remains under investigation.
