Three men arrested for stealing vehicle, police say

The Chowchilla Police Department arrested three men in connection to a stolen vehicle.

Officers were dispatched to 401 Robertson Boulevard on Friday for a report of a stolen car. The owner of the vehicle entered Quality Liquor for a short period of time and left his car running.

When officers arrived and spoke with witnesses, Officers determined a suspect in another vehicle had dropped off the subject who stole the running vehicle.

Shortly after receiving the report, the suspect vehicle was located at the Berenda Slough river with two male subjects, one subject matching the description of the one that stole the car. Officers located the stolen vehicle hidden in the trees of the Slough.

The three men from Chowchilla were identified as 29-year-old Daniel Brown (probation for burglary), 22-year-old Kenneth Bernard, and 22-year-old Casey Dearing (probation for possession of stolen vehicle) the three subjects were booked into the Madera County Department of Corrections for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, accomplice and accessory to a crime.
