Sheriff’s arrest man, he fired his handgun towards his roomate and four children in Merced

On July 5, 2019, Merced County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 4000 Block of North Highway 59 in Merced for a disturbance between roommates and shots being fired.

After meeting with the Victim deputies learned that during an argument the suspect, Francisco Gonzalez threw water at the Victim and in retaliation the Victim threw mouthwash into his Gonzalez’ eyes.

Gonzalez admitted to deputies that he was upset that the Victim would not leave so he discharged a .380 caliber handgun into the ground in the direction of the Victim and the Victim’s four children to make them leave.

Deputies located Gonzalez at a residence in the 4000 Block of North Highway 59 where they were able to recover the .380 caliber handgun as well as a fully automatic AR-15 rifle.

Deputies arrested Gonzalez and booked him into the Merced County Jail for Felon in possession of ammunition, Felon in possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm in a negligent matter, child endangerment likely to cause great bodily injury and possession of an assault weapon.
