A cold front will move eastward across central California tonight accompanied by rain which will be heavy at times according to the Handford National Weather Service.

The combination of rain and melting snow over the higher elevations will cause a rise in water levels along the upper Merced river tonight.

The California-Nevada River Forecast Center forecasts the Merced River at Pohono Bridge to crest just below its respective flood stage early Thursday morning.
