A new restaurant is opening in Merced at the former Pocket 8’s Sushi and Grill location.

Hana Sushi and Grill will be moving into the empty building that Jerry Yang once leased to run his business in Merced.

Jerry Yang, the former owner of Merced Pocket 8’s Sushi and Grill closed his business back in September of 2019.

Jerry opened a new restaurant in Fresno, his new restaurant Shobu Japanese and Cusine is located at 6640 North Blackstone.

Jerry said last year, “It’s time to work closer to home, that’s the reason I’m closing the Merced location, I will miss the Merced community, I appreciate all the years they supported me, I hope to see everyone in our Fresno location.

The owners of Hana Sushi and Grill currently do not have an opening date.
